"Long ago, the world was nothing more than an endless sea, cloaked in a boundless sky, reaching as far as could possibly be imagined.
Then two great titans came into existence: The Bionis and the Mechonis. The titans were locked in a timeless battle.
Until at last,
Only their lifeless corpses remained..."
There was a time where every game I played felt magical. It was a time where pressures were low, and all my friends were getting high, so what else did I do put play video games? When I left my old life behind me and started collecting more and more video games, I came to realize that there were bigger, bolder and wiser games out there. Suddenly, the bar was lifted to an almost impossible height (How do you follow up a series like Metal Gear Solid?). The once playable because the mundane. The mundane became like dirt. All was lost.
Then, I found my miracle.
I genuinely can't remember the last time I have felt so strongly about a game like Xenoblade Chronicles (the closest I can think of was Snake Eater, that I played in 2012). The graphics were some of the best on the Wii, and the gameplay, while a bit jarring at first, was addictive and engrossing. The world of Xenoblade Chronicles brought back a childlike sense of adventure in me that I haven't felt since I last played the 3rd generation of Pokemon in my day.
It isn't often that a game hits every check box on my list, but not only did Xenoblade reach my expectations, it smashed them to pieces like a common Mechon vs. the true Monado.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'd like to get back to my current play though on Dolphin. 1080p and higher resolution textures make an awe-inspiring game that much better.
